3-D Tetris
Nintendo Virtual Boy, 1996
3-D Tetris is a puzzle game that introduces a three-dimensional playing field, diverging from the traditional two-dimensional setup found in most Tetris versions. In this game, the playfield, known as the "well," consists of five vertical layers that players must fill with falling 3-D blocks. These blocks can be rotated both horizontally and vertically, and can be positioned in four different directions. Each block casts a shadow below it to show where it will land.
The game’s camera continuously adjusts to provide a clear view, but players have the option to manually reposition it. The HUD features a radar that offers information about each of the well’s layers and previews the next block, represented by a character. 3-D Tetris includes several modes—such as 3-D Tetris, Center-Fill, and Puzzle—each with unique gameplay variations. Players can also adjust the difficulty level and the speed at which the blocks fall in these modes.
